The Montréal Impact continue to surprise in the CONCACAF Champions League. The lone Canadian side in the competition managed a 0-0 draw against Mexican giants Atlante FC. Click here for a match report from CONCACAF.
From what I can gather, Atlante fielded a reserve side, and visibly underestimated their counterparts. The Impact had the better chances throughout the match but Atlante's defense held strong. Matt Jordan was seldomly tested in the Montréal's net, as his team did not look second best on the night.
I was only able to see bits and pieces of the match, but Sandro Grande appeared to be immense in the middle of the pitch for the Impact. He looked very comfortable against the Mexicans and seemed to be at the heart of every one of his team's attacks.
Elsewhere in Group C, CD Olimpia beat Joe Public FC 3-1 at Marvin Lee Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago. Montréal currently top the Group C table with 1 win and 1 draw, ahead of Atlante on goal difference. Olimpia follows in third with 1 win and 1 loss, with Joe Public at the bottom of the group's table with 2 losses.
