LA Galaxy in for Owen

So, it's not going to happen, but still...just think about it.

It looks like the Los Angeles Galaxy are lining up a move for Newcastle United's English star Michael Owen. The striker is out of contract at the end of the season, and will available on a Bosman free transfer. He is apparently open to all offers, especially those in the range of his current £5M salary from the Magpies, and the Galaxy certainly have the money to back up their offer.

In order to sign Owen, the Galaxy would have to acquire a second designated player slot, which could be available from the New York Red Bulls. With the potential exit of Landycakes to Bayern Munich, the Galaxy will be wanting to add to its strike force, and despite his injury problems, Owen likely has many good years of football ahead of him.

So, from a "best for the Galaxy" standpoint, if both Becks and Landycakes return, and they add Michael Owen, they would be one of the most exciting teams to watch in MLS. It is quite the long shot, but an interesting thought. Are the Galaxy dreaming? You could definitely argue that. It would be a great pick up for MLS as a whole though.

Feel free to comment on any of your thoughts.
