The Houston Dynamo formally announced the signing of 22 year-old Canadian international defender Andrew Hainault today. After Will Johnson last summer, Hainault is the second young promising Canadian to come to MLS and not be considered by Mo Johnston.
Hainault is a centre half, something we're in desperate need of. I'd have a hard time believing he's not better than both Kevin Harmse and Marco Velez. Is there any explanation as to why Mo didn't keep an eye on this guy, or did he just drop the ball on this one? Both Will Johnson and Andrew Hainault are two of the more promising players coming up into our national set up, and these two aren't in our plans, then who is?

I was wondering about Hainault too. Maybe he didn't want to come here? (He wouldn't be the first player to turn us down.) Maybe Houston offered more money -believe he's on $100,000/yr. Whatever the reason, I can't believe Mo didn't at least consider him.
Anyway we're not exactly leaking goals through the middle of our defense like we were last year so Harmse (also Canadian btw) must be doing something right. And after all, Mo brought in DeRo and Serioux so we can't beat him up too much on the Canadian angle.
